VBrick Systems Partners with LifeSize to Extend the Reach of High Definition Video Within the Enterprise
Joint Solutions Provide H.264 Video Streaming to Any Device at Any Location
Wallingford, Conn. – October 12, 2010 – IP video technology leader VBrick Systems <http://www.vbrick.com> today announced a partnership with LifeSize <http://www.lifesize.com> ®, a division of Logitech (Nasdaq: LOGI) (SIX: LOGN), to extend high-definition IP video delivery within the enterprise. The combination of VBrick Systems’ Enterprise IP Video Communications Platform<http://www.vbrick.com/products/manage/video-management-software.asp> and LifeSize’s new HD video recording and streaming product, LifeSize Video Center <http://www.lifesize.com/Products/Infrastructure/Video_Center.aspx> , results in an unprecedented ability to create and distribute new video content across the enterprise and over the Internet.
The combined VBrick Systems and LifeSize solution enables capabilities that neither IP video streaming nor video conferencing provide alone. The partnership translates into major advantages for customers in the form of:
- Increased participation in content creation
- Scalable distribution of content across the enterprise and over the Internet
- Support of all enterprise video applications
Increased Participation in Content Creation
As video communications become more mainstream, one of the biggest challenges faced by IT teams is how to allow more people to generate rich media content in a “self-service” way. Corporate functions such as marketing and human resources want to easily and rapidly generate video content. In educational environments, instructors must be able to integrate video into the classroom environment without disrupting the flow of their teaching.
VBrick has a variety of tools to capture content and stream it over IP networks. Now, customers can easily use their LifeSize video conference units to create and record high quality rich media material, as well as conduct hybrid video conferencing and streaming sessions. For instance, executives in different locations can participate in a video conference call while simultaneously streaming the meeting to the entire company. User access and workflow is further simplified through VBrick’s recently announced integration of live and on-demand IP video with Microsoft’s Office Communicator (OCS) or SharePoint products.
“Partnering with VBrick Systems moves LifeSize one step closer to our goal of interoperating with the key players in the broader enterprise video communications space,” said Matt Collier, Senior Vice President of Corporate Development, LifeSize. “Integrating VBrick’s enterprise IP video streaming solutions with the LifeSize Video Center will provide joint customers an easy way to record high-quality videos and centrally manage them with scalable broadcasting options for sharing innovative, business-critical content with their employees, partners and other parties.”
Scalable Distribution Across the Enterprise, To the Internet
As more users generate rich media content it must be managed and distributed in a scalable manner to avoid disruption of other mission-critical IP traffic. VBrick enables this through its world-class video networking capabilities combined with its Enterprise Media System (VEMS), which collaborates with the LifeSize Video Center to stream live H.264 video and build an on-demand video library.
For distribution to multiple enterprise locations, customers can deploy VBrick HD Reflectors and Distribution Servers that optimize bandwidth and drastically reduce network bottlenecks. From the end user’s perspective, they simply click “play” to start viewing high-definition video – no matter where in the world they are. For Internet distribution, the VBrick Online Streaming Service (VBoss) receives the stream from the LifeSize Video Center and takes care of the rest. And because VEMS, VBoss, the HD Reflector, and the LifeSize Video Center all support the ubiquitous Flash streaming format, customers do not need to download and install players on their PCs or Macs in order to view video content.
Supports All Enterprise Video Applications
The combination of VBrick VEMS and LifeSize Video Center solution allows organizations to deliver any conceivable IP video application: executive and event broadcasts, training and education sessions, digital signage, webcasting, distributing television content, or surveillance. Additionally, the content can be viewed using a PC, Mac, mobile device, VBrick IP Set Top Box or Digital Signage player – significantly increasing viewing reach.
“We will continue to partner with innovative technology companies like LifeSize to provide the powerful, cost-efficient IP video streaming solutions our customers need,” said John Shaw, Chief Operating Officer, VBrick Systems. “Our partnership with LifeSize demonstrates VBrick’s commitment to bolstering the collaboration capabilities that are unique to videoconferencing.”
